Know Your Personality Type
We are all snowflakes, but still, we do fall into types that can be useful for identifying, reflecting on, and leveraging for personal development. In this article, I will review the top 4 personality type systems and how to leverage each for personal development.
Let's first look at the personality type systems.
I’ll share now how I personally leverage of these systems can be used for different things.
Myers Briggs is an excellent typing system for personal relationships. It has helped me so much with my relationship with my husband, who is an introvert and I am an extrovert. Understanding our personality type under Myers Briggs has been very useful in helping me make peace with his wanting to stay home when I want to leave.
Enneagram is an excellent typing system for work relationships. I use it when I am leading a team. I try to assign tasks and roles based on each person's Enneagram type. If someone is a 5/The Professor type, I will give them a research project. If they are a 6/Anxious type, I will give them risk analysis tasks.
StrengthFinder is an excellent typing system for personal development. I use my strengths to ensure I am getting chances to use my strengths each week. I also want to ensure that I am moving towards career paths that let me leverage my strengths.
Big Five is an excellent typing system for making peace with yourself and noticing patterns that are harming you. I’ll share a few examples. If you are very open and keep getting taken advantage of, you can recognize this and partner with someone you can ask if someone is taking advantage of you. If you are very closed, you could partner with someone who keeps you active and experiencing new things.
I hope this short article on personality types helps you consider how these could help you live your best life.
