Results: Right Knee Pain
I've experienced knee pain since my twenties, back when I used to play basketball. At one point, I struggled to climb stairs, so I went to see a doctor who suggested knee surgery.
Surprisingly, the doctor advised against surgery, explaining that at my age, I needed to strengthen my knees through squats. He emphasized the importance of avoiding excessive twisting movements on the basketball court without having strong knee muscles to support them. I learned the vulnerability of my knees and the need to protect them. Fast forward to when I was around 36 or 37 years old, I ran a ten-kilometer race without any preparation, something I used to be capable of doing.
Unfortunately, this time was different. My right knee swelled up to the size of a grapefruit, causing significant pain for about six weeks. During that period, I felt down and confined to a small couch in my house. I made a firm decision never to let that happen again and to focus on restoring the strength and health of my knee while preventing further injuries.
Since then, I've been searching for ways to strengthen and improve my knees, and in the past year, I came across a guy who advocates "knees over toes" training. He recommended walking backward as an effective exercise. Around a year and a half ago, I started incorporating uphill backward walking into my routine, and it has been a game changer.
I can truly feel the difference because I experience immediate relief and improved well-being after each backward walking session, sometimes even during the activity itself. This method undeniably works, and now I don't have any knee pain at all. Previously, my knees would hurt if I sat for extended periods, but I've tested it multiple times, including during long flights, and I no longer experience any pain.
The benefit of having pain-free knees is the freedom it provides. I no longer worry about getting up and stretching after sitting for a long time, although occasional stretching is still recommended. It has significantly enhanced my quality of life, relieving the concerns I used to have about my knees.
