Living to 100? Why Your Career Should Evolve with You

Humans and Robots will be working together in the future.

With AI advancing and our lifespans increasing, there's a crucial question we need to address: What will you do for a career? Let's break this down step by step.

We all need money to cover both necessities and luxuries.

When it comes to work, we have two options: we can either pursue something we're passionate about or settle for a job that simply pays the bills.

I want to argue that we should all aim to find work that both excites us and pays well. Here's why:

If we take care of our bodies—eating mostly unprocessed foods, prioritizing sleep, managing stress, and staying active throughout the day—there’s a good chance we’ll live well into our 100s. This means we’ll likely need to work much longer than what Social Security or a standard 401(k) can sustain.

So, if we’ll be working into our 80s or even 90s, we owe it to ourselves to get our careers right. Can we keep evolving what we love to do, honing our skills, and continuing to work well into old age? I believe we must.

Lets talk about two actions for you to take:

  1. Prioritize your health. You want to maximize your healthspan.

  2. Let’s take the time to find the right career—and then reinvent it again, and again.
