Psoriasis has caused me tremendous pain and continues to significantly impact my life. In the past, my scalp was constantly and unbearably itchy, making it a truly dreadful experience. Eventually, I discovered that the main triggers for my psoriasis were gluten and corn, although it was a challenging lesson to learn. Consequently, I had to eliminate these from my diet, which greatly limited my food choices. Tacos, for instance, are no longer an option, and finding alternatives like cassava flour at restaurants can be quite difficult.
Personally, I believe that genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and the herbicide Roundup may be responsible for my psoriasis, although I cannot state this with absolute certainty—it remains my theory. When dealing with autoimmune conditions like psoriasis, there is typically something disrupting the body's system, and in my case, it is corn and gluten. On the other hand, there is something that aids in the healing process.
For me, that something is red light therapy. I use a high-quality red light therapy device on a daily basis to alleviate inflammation. Additionally, I incorporate salicylic acid into my scalp care routine. This acid helps cleanse the area and remove excess skin, which is the primary cause of itchiness.
While I strive to avoid accidental exposures to gluten and corn, unfortunately, they still occur on occasion. Sometimes friends unknowingly include gluten in dishes they prepare for me, leading to subsequent flare-ups.
My goal is to reach a point where my skin feels secure enough that it no longer forms scabs—a common occurrence in psoriasis cases. I consider this the final hurdle in my battle with psoriasis, and thankfully, significant improvements have already been observed. My scalp is no longer itchy, except for a small spot, while the rest has cleared up considerably. This improvement in my condition has truly transformed my life.
